May 9: Tylan

After five studio albums and ten years on the road with the internationally acclaimed folk-pop quartet Girlyman, Tylan is returning to her roots with a debut solo CD, "One True Thing."

“Playing with Girlyman for so long has really spoiled me,” says Tylan Greenstein, who’s decided to drop her last name for her new solo venture. Founded in 2001, the four members of Girlyman went from playing for tips in coffeehouses to headlining (and selling out) 400-500 seat venues across the country; they also toured internationally, graced festival main stages, and opened extensively for such folk luminaries as Indigo Girls and Dar Williams.

“I couldn’t ask for a more talented group of musicians, or for a more successful career," says Tylan. "All those instruments and arrangements in Girlyman have really supported my songs. At the same time, there’s something about the raw, lyric-driven acoustic experience that has always appealed to me. I like the idea of there being very little between the song and the listener. That’s where I come from.”

June 11: Hymn for Her (w/ opener: Jason Hathaway)

From the moment we heard about this husband and wife duo (Hymn for Her), we knew we wanted them to park their airstream camper in our parking lot and play a show on our outdoor stage. Nothing says summer like a cigar box guitar and a good dose of riverstomp blues.

Lucy Tight and Wayne Waxing inject juiced-up backwoods country blues with a dose of desert rock psychedelia that has been described as “Hell’s Angels-meets-the Amish.”

We decided this would be a great opportunity for Indy’s own Jason Hathaway to break out his bottleneck guitar and maybe even his guitjo and treat us to a couple of his favorite tunes before the main act takes the stage. This is going to be a hoot!

June 29: Rollover

Prepare yourself for an evening of all-out rock and roll with well-known Chicago band, Rollover. This show has been a long time in the making; we decided there was no time like our tenth summer to pull out all the stops and invite them to play a special show in Indy. You really don’t want to miss this performance.

ROLLOVER was the first band from Chicago ever to be signed by the legendary Bill Graham Management (Santana, Lynyrd Skynyrd The Neville Brothers, Joe Satriani etc..) . They are a band with a classic roots rock sound influenced by late 60's and 70's rock.

July 10: Izzy and the Catastrophics

Discovering a fantastic band for the very first time is a little like being struck by lightening. That’s what happened when Miss Joni first found out about Izzy and the Catastrophics. They pretty much mix up everything she loves—swing, surf, rockabilly, honky tonk and a whole lot of fiendishly energetic male charm. So, we knew we HAD to have them play this summer.

Better bring your dancing shoes, kids. You may never be the same.

August 20: Barefoot Movement

It wouldn’t be summer without at least one good show with a fiddle, bass, mandolin and guitar. We’re thrilled to have Barefoot Movement return to the Indy Hostel for another evening of great music. Shoes not required.

The Barefoot Movement is a quartet of immensely talented musicians from North & South Carolina and Tennessee whose music successfully melds Americana influences with the invigoration of acoustic modern rock and jazz. Their sound simultaneously captures the rustic beauty of old Southern front porch Bluegrass improvisation while being immediately accessible to the modern era.
