Established in 1975, the Alley Cat began life as one of three neighborhood bars in the Broadripple area. As Broadripple grew into a major entertainment, dining, and shopping district, the Alley Cat has maintained it's down home atmosphere where booze, pool, and music is still its primary focus. A perennial winner of the "Best Dive Bar" awards of local publications, the Alley Cat received national recognition in 2003 when named one of the "Top 20 Dive Bars in America" by Stuff magazine. Hidden in an alley between the dumpsters and night clubs, the Alley Cat sports an eclectic patronage where the bling and tattoos mix with the yuppies and suits earning it the "Best People Watching" award. Always known as a place of great value for its robust drinks and cheap prices, the best kept secret is the Ally Cat's five star food at fast food prices.

The Mineshaft Saloon, Broad Ripple's Original Party Bar, opened in June of 1992, and has since set the standard for nightlife in Indianapolis. Owners Fred Treadway and Rob Sabatini went out on a limb by opening the first "Dance Bar" in Broad Ripple. Over 10 years later, The Shaft is going strong and is only rivaled by it's offspring, Rock Lobster and Average Joe's Sports Pub. It's dark atmosphere and LOUD music, along with it's friendly bartenders and Great Drink Specials, make it a Broad Ripple Nightlife Landmark. The music format was simple. We came up with a mixture of College Radio Rock, some of our favorites from the 70's, 80's(Retro), and today's hottest dance mixes.

Due to the overwhelming success of The Mineshaft Saloon, The Rock Lobster opened in April of 1993 as the second bar in Fred Treadway and Rob Sabatini's "Party Trifecta". Named after the B-52's song popular in the early 80's, The Rock was an overnight success as Indianapolis' first eighties bar (later expanded to include a more diverse music format). Because we have the Hardest Working Bar-staff in Showbiz, Outstanding Drink Specials, and a Downright FUN Atmosphere; It's no wonder "The Rock" still has the long lines every weekend.

Average Joes

At first glance, the photos and memorabilia that fill the walls of Average Joe's Sports Pub & Grub may look like generic sports bar decor, but if you look closer, you may find a small part of all of us on these walls. Average Joe's Sports Pub & Grub is dedicated to the softball players, the volleyball players, the bowlers and the Gus Mackers of the world who play hard for the love of the game. Average Joe's has twice been named Indianapolis Monthly's "Best Sports Bar" and recently garnered Indy's "Best Chicken Wings" (they're fresh and char-grilled). A recent appearance on Bobby Flay's Food Nation on the Food Network along with a recent remodeling that saw the addition of garage doors that open onto the main strip has put Average Joe's back at the top of local sports bar action.
