John & Karen

John and Karen opened the Indy Hostel together in 2003. Since then they have watched their small business grow tremendously. They found their hostel was such a success they decided to open a bed and breakfast in their home in the nearby town, Fishers. Running both businesses keep the couple busy. John runs the maintences of the homes and Karen takes care of the housekeeping and is also a yoga instructor. Meeting travelers from all over keeps them energized and are always excited to hear traveler’s stories.

Bryor enjoys meeting new people from all over the world. He is eager to learn and experience new things. Bryor grew up here in Indianapolis.


Carly is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. She likes meeting new people and having conversations. She is recently back from her two year mission in Africa. 

Current Interns

Sarah has stayed at many hostels around the world and is excited to be a part of the Indy Hostel staff. She has traveled to the Caribbean, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, France, The Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, and Italy. One day she would like to live in Northern Europe.

Tyler is a senior at IU bloomington currently studying Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management. She has been to over 5 countries in Europe and hopes to see more . She loves traveling, meeting new people and most of all food! 

Maria is from Chile and she's currently studying Hospitality and Tourism in her country, she has been in 2 other coutries and on several cities of Chile. She's expecting to travel more to embrace other cultures, meet new people and get to know beautiful places around the world.

Emma is from Greenwood, IN and she will be graduating from IUPUI in May 2018 with a degree in Tourism, Conventions, and  Event Management. She loves working out, hiking, camping, and most of all traveling.  She has been to Central America, Europe, and Australia and hopes to continue her travels after graduation. 

Nilson is from Brazil. He has been in several cities and countries around the world and now he's part of the Indy Hostel to improve his English and share his culture with us and our guests. He wants to travel and get to know many more states of the US in these next few months.
